More than 17,000 ha. of land across six sites are maintained for coconut cultivation from coconut nurseries for the growth of saplings, to full grown coconut harvesting
The coconut is sometimes called the Tree of Life because of its importance as a widely used crop that provides employment and nourishment. From the roots to the leaf tips coconut can be used in non-culinary and culinary/food products, as well as industrial and medicinal products.
Up to 3 tons/ha./month of coconut can be harvested and is sold locally for processing.
